Well today, they have announced a revision of the Mi Mix 3 that is more in tune with the 2019 smartphone agenda.
Those specs are pretty much the norm for flagship smartphones these days, but where Xiaomi shines is the price: The Mi 9 costs 449 euros ($509) for the 6/64GB version, and 499 euros ($566) for the 6/128GB version. This means aside from the new chipset and 5G support, the Mi Mix 3 5G has the same hardware as of the original Mi Mix 3 that debuted in China back in October previous year. According to Xiaomi, this allows you to download a 15-minute 1080p video in just one second.
To recall, the Mi 9 price in China is set at CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 31,700) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant, whereas the 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage model comes at CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 35,000). This phone isn't a slider like the Mi Mix 3, but at least it's packing a OnePlus 6T-like teardrop notch instead of a hole-punch. The Mi MIX 3 5G also features the same dual 12MP main cameras with AI assistance plus a 24MP + 2MP dual-camera combo for the front.
Inside the Mi 9 is a 3300mAh battery, featuring fast charging for both wired and wireless charging. Also, it sports the Snapdragon X50 independent baseband that makes the phone support 5G connectivity.
"5G is here, not in 2020, not late 2020; it's here right now in 2019", Cristiano Amon, president of chipmaker Qualcomm, which supplies Xiaomi, said during a launch event.
The Mi Mix 3 5G price starts at Euro 599 (roughly Rs.48,300).
Additionally, Xiaomi launched the Mi LED Smart Bulb at its pre-MWC conference with a price tag of Euro 19.9 (roughly Rs. 1.600). It will come in Onyx Black and Sapphire Blue.
The Mi 9 is available in Spain, France and Italy for pre-order now; it will show up in stores on February 28.
