Former White House aide and reality-TV star, Omarosa Newman, released on August 12 what she claimed was a secret recording she made of chief of staff John Kelly over her firing in the White House situation room. This Kelly recording is the first one she's actually shared publicly.
"She's on a different level", a senior White House official said.
"If I did not have this recording, people would still believe the false, incredible story that I was running around the White House ... that I tried to charge the residence of the White House. No one. So, I protected myself, and I'm so glad I did".
Omarosa apparently knew what was coming when she got the ax from White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, because she recorded it all on her cellphone.
Kelly also says he's firing her because of "serious integrity violations".
But Manigault Newman has already contradicted that claim - though she said in the book that she was informed by a source that Trump used a racial slur, she told NPR in an interview Friday that she had heard a recording of the comments herself.
With the release of those tapes, the internet was left breathless.

Ms Manigault Newman had indeed been a staunch defender of the President for years, including pushing back, as the highest-profile African-American in the White House, on accusations that he was racist.
The Charlottesville protests, which became a symbol of racial tensions in the United States, took place on August 12, when white supremacists marched in the city to denounce the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee, a Confederate general who fought in the American Civil War.
Another claim, one that may give life to meme creators is that she walked in on the President eating a crumpled up piece of paper after a meeting with his then personal lawyer, and now federal witness, Michael Cohen.
Donald Trump had been President for 29 weeks and rather than uniting the nation he was fuelling racial tensions.
"Also, I never confirmed the existence of an alleged tape from "The Apprentice" to her as she said today", the statement continued. In her book, Newman describes hearing about the tape but not hearing it herself.
