The US government has said it has reunited 522 children with their families since President Donald Trump announced an end to his administration's controversial policy of separating migrant families crossing into the country illegally.
When Trump arrived at Joint Base Andrews Thursday morning to travel to Texas, wearing the "I-really-don't-care" jacket with its message emblazoned in white paint, it was first noticed by the Daily Mail.
The insider also claimed that Melania's staff and aids all advised her not to wear the jacket.
Melania made the previously unannounced visit to the detention centre, saying she wanted to help reunited migrant children who were separated from their families. Whilst Melania's representatives reveal there is no hidden message behind the jacket, the POTUS offered his own interpretation that echoes his own sentiments about the media, and "fake news".
In previous public appearances, the first lady has worn designs by Dolce & Gabbana, Del Pozo, Christian Dior, Emilio Pucci, Givenchy and Valentino, often with daringly high Christian Louboutin heels.
But some criticized Mrs. Trump for calling on Congress to fix the situation instead of her husband. However, she is also surprised that the message on her jacket "blew up in her face".
When asked what message the first lady's jacket meant to send, spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said: "It's a jacket". The brand said on Instagram that it would donate $100 from the sale of each sweater to a charity of the buyer's choice. However, that policy does not re-unite the families that have already been separated.
"Today she wore a $39 jacket that read "I Really Don't Care, Do U?" in 90° Texas summer heat to a children's detention center", another user pointed out.
However the comment from her spokeswoman about the intentions behind her Zara jacket isn't flying for most.
'Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!,' said the USA president as he took to his traditional mode of communication - Twitter.
On Wednesday, President Trump signed an executive order reversing his policy and allowing parents and their children to stay together. She said that she cried when the two were reunited and that she is never going to be away from him again.
