The joint strike came after the White Helmets, a civil defense agency, blamed the Assad regime for the chemical attack, which it said killed 78 civilians and injured hundreds of others.
The Israeli military said Friday evening that following an "operational and intelligence-based investigation", its military has concluded that the "Iranian aircraft was armed with explosives and was tasked to attack Israeli territory".
Iran's involvement in Syria in support of Assad has alarmed Israel, which has said it will counter any threat.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu coupled praise for USA -led strikes on Syrian targets on Saturday with a warning that Iran's presence there further endangers Syria.
