Winter Storm Wilbur is kicking off the first few days of April with an expansive swath of snow and wind from the northern Rockies into the northern Plains, upper Midwest and Great Lakes.
There won't be much accumulation by morning since recent higher temperatures in Philadelphia and NY warmed up the ground.
As a result, Monday's morning commute could see some delays. While temperatures for tomorrow's game are expected to be in the mid-40s, you'll want to wear rain gear as showers are expected for much of the day.
From Pennsylvania to coastal southern New England, snow accumulation could reach between two to six inches.
The heaviest storm snow totals will be in areas north of Wisconsin Dells where precipitation will be mostly or all snow through the storm.
Another storm is expected to develop in the central US late Monday.
"Snow will be moving out late morning for the city", said Jay Engle, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton, New York. Locally, over 6 inches are expected in the region.
An early April snowstorm brought over 7 inches of snow to parts of New Jersey Monday.
"Potentially, we're living off our savings from past year so we have to be very prudent in our water use", Gehrke said. At least 93 flights were canceled at John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports as of 6:50 a.m. Hackettstown and Blairstown received about four inches. However, NWS said snow has been falling hard enough along the I-95 corridor, from Westerly in to CT, to create slower driving conditions.
Forecasters say the St. Cloud area could pick up 3 to 7 inches of snow overnight. The wintery weather will come as a shock to some East Coast residents who were basking in highs of the late 70s at the end of last week.
Winter weather watches, warnings and advisories extended almost coast-to-coast over the northern tier on Monday, covering over 40 million people, including in the northeast Midwest, and across the Northern Plains.
