Mohammed required an "intensive surgery, where part of his skull was removed, in order to dislodge the rubber bullet", Amnesty International had reported.
The arrest and prosecution of Ahed Tamimi, for the slap she says was motivated by anger over the shooting of her cousin Mohammed, has created a public relations crisis for Israel, since it has been widely condemned internationally, including by prominent entertainers like the American comedian Sarah Silverman.
Mohammed was among ten Palestinians, including five minors, arrested in the early morning raid.

As Haaretz reported, Ahed Tamimi's trial in an Israeli military court began last week with a decision by the judge to close it off from reporters and diplomats.
A 2015 investigation held by a Knesset subcommittee led by deputy minister Michael Oren (Kulanu) probed whether the Tamimi family was "real" or composed of hired actors.
"There is no limit to how low Israel is willing to sink in its attempt to discredit the Tamimis' just struggle for liberation against Israeli colonialism".
"We have become a symbol of nonviolent resistance, and they [Israel] don't want the voice of Palestine to be heard from anywhere or anyone", Bassem said, "who knows what they will do next". Ahed is now being prosecuted behind closed doors in an Israeli military court that has a conviction rate of over 99 percent. Her mother and cousin were also arrested the next day.
Ahed is famous across Palestine and the Arab world for videos of her, since her childhood, defiantly resisting Israeli soldiers who clash with Palestinians in her village almost every week. "I could not keep quiet and I responded as I did", Tamimi testified.

Muhammad's injury required doctors to put him in a coma and remove a portion of his skull.
He was released later Monday after being questioned, Israel's army said.
Due to the teen's age, the tape itself was not released. Mordechai said the 15 year old made the comments while being interrogated after his arrest on Monday.
