Bell County Sheriff's Deputies say that the dogs belonged to Johnny Dale Lankford, 42. "They were both active within the community and just, like I said, two of the nicest people you would ever meet". When he went outside to see what the commotion was, he saw the two dogs attacking his brother.
James Saylor lives next door to his brother. The dogs let him go and Johnny then ran into his house to grab a pistol. Also, the dog which was killed by Johnny will undergo a necropsy. The injured dog ran away toward Country Lane.
He found his wife lying on the ground In front of the house. He managed to injure the other dog which got away.
The woman was declared dead at the scene, and emergency responders transported the man to an area hospital. He now faces another charge of harboring a vicious animal, the sheriff's department said. "If you see a pit bull matching that description, in the Arjay or surrounding area, call Bell County Dispatch immediately at 606-337-6174 or 911".
Two Bell County deputies responded to the scene Sunday morning in Arjay and discovered the woman and her husband "had been savagely attacked" by two pit bulls, the sheriff's department said in a statement.
It comes about a week after a 22-year-old Virginia woman was mauled by two of her pet pit bulls while she was going for a walk. "She anxious more about neighbors and friends than she did herself, as Johnny's the same way, they're just a very giving couple". The Bell County coroner plans to conduct an autopsy on the woman.
Investigators with the sheriff's office are warning residents no to engage with the unsafe animal if scene.
The call came in around 10:20 Sunday morning.
The victims' will be released after their family is notified, investigators said.
