This enraged the woman, reportedly leading her to rip an oxygen mask out of the ceiling as crew forced her to put out the smoke and return back to her seat.
"Our Crew in command of Flight 2943 traveling from Portland on Saturday afternoon safely landed on-time in Sacramento following an inflight disturbance", KRON4 TV quoted a statement from Southwest airlines as saying. I have a destination for myself.
"We can confirm that a passenger was smoking in the during the flight", A Southwest Airlines spokesperson said in a statement.
According to KOIN6, the woman had been caught smoking a cigarette and tampering with the smoke detector in the aircraft's bathroom. "I swear if you don't (expletive) land, I will (expletive) kill everybody on this (expletive) plane".
"You were saying some pretty threatening things like you were going to kill everybody on the plane, why did you say that?", Thompson asked. "The flight carried 136 Customers and a Crew of five".
"Our reports from flight attendants indicate a customer violated federal laws by both smoking onboard an aircraft and by tampering with a smoke detector in an aircraft restroom", the company said.
Valerie Curbelo, 24, was arrested for the incident. Our Crew enforced the regulation and that was followed by the passenger outburst.
Curbelo was taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail where she faced the charge of making criminal threats.
Curbelo was arrested after the plane landed at the Sacramento International Airport. Curbelo is now booked 3 counts of Felony criminal threats and her bail has been set at $75,000.
But Curbelo couldn't say exactly what she was anxious about or what made her act that way. Curbelo was then arrested on charges of felony and was sent to jail on a Dollars 75000 bail, states a Washington Post report.
"I don't know", Curbelo said.
