Sources say a deal could be announced as early as Monday, in what is rumoured to be a nine-figure deal, while another source informs the publication it could be around $401 million Dollars.
Apple plans to buy Shazam, the song-recognition company, for hundreds of millions of dollars.
In 2015, Shazam posted an annual loss of $22 million dollars.
Both companies have yet to comment on the supposed merger at this point in time. So Apple must think the brand itself has value, and it's reasonable to assume it will integrate the feature into its iOS operating system. If the deal is real, Shazam would be the highest-profile Apple acquisition since it bought Beats in 2014. Earlier in 2017, the company partnered with spirits company Beam Suntory, maker of Jim Beam, Sauza, and Hornitos tequila, to create a wildly successful AR marketing campaign. A Shazam acquisition would help the company expand on that.
A spokesperson for Shazam wasn't immediately available for comment.
The technology news site, quoting unnamed sources, said that the deal could be announced Monday with financial terms not yet clear. It could be a done deal or Apple could have called Shazam's people up yesterday.
