Yesterday, Kapil Sibal requested the court to hear the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case after 2019 General Elections.
"Today Sunni Waqf Board has said what Kapil Sibal told the court on Tuesday on our behalf was wrong", Prime Minister told an election rally here."Yeh khotu kauchhey.Sunni Waqf Board ne kauchhey (What Sibal said was wrong, Sunni Waqf Board has said)", Mr Modi said referring to the statement made by Haji Mehboob of the Sunni Waqf Board.
However, the Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and Justices Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer adjourned the hearing in the Ayodhya case for February 8, 2018.
"Now Congress links Ram Mandir with elections. Shameful posturing by Congress on Ram Temple issue!" he said in a tweet.
Speaking on the same, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "As a lawyer, Kapil Sibal can argue any matter but he should not forget that he has been the law minister in the past". "Whenever the Congress wants to take a different stand on an issue, it keeps Kapil Sibalji in the forefront".
He asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi to take a stand on the Ramjanamabhoomi matter. He, however, noted that the Congress has said the views expressed by Sibal, who represents the Sunni Waqf Board in the case in the Supreme Court, were his own. The BJP is playing the role of "Manthara', raking up Kapil Sibal's stand on the hearing", Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said, while addressing the media. What does he mean, when he says don't hear the matter till 2019 as it will have an impact outside? Regarding the entire controversy, Sibal said that, " Will discussion on my going to the court & representing someone solve serious problems in the country? Modi said now he understands why the Congress kept many issues unresolved, without elaborating but implying that it was done to derive political mileage.
On the 25th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, a talk titled "Why Ram Mandir in Ayodhya?' was scheduled to be held at the Koyna Hostel in Jawaharlal Nehru University". Congress leader Anand Sharma said that Prime Minister was diverting the issue from lack of development in Gujarat.
