The Indian men's hockey team continued their good form in their Asia Cup 2017 campaign with a third successive win beating arch-rivals Pakistan 3-1 in a high intensity Pool A match here at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Sunday.
Towards the end of third quarter, the match completely turned in favour of India as Ramandeep Singh and Harmanpreet Singh netted goals in 44th and 45th minute respectively. The match on Sunday which was hosted by Bangladesh between India and Pakistan for the Asia Cup, India scored three goals while Pakistan registered one.
The Green Shirts thrashed hosts Bangladesh 7-0 on Thursday and played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Japan in their Pool A-encounter on Friday.

At the start though, backed by a boisterous home crowd, Bangladesh looked determined as they began with a good attack but a clinical performance from the Indian team gave them little opportunity to bring some cheer to their supporters who had turned up in large numbers. India saw plenty of possession inside Pakistan's box in the early stages of the first quarter but could not convert it into a goal.
Head to head, Pakistan have won 25, lost 21 and drawn four matches to India in major tournaments since 1956.
The game will be the biggest test for new India coach, Sjoerd Marijne, who took charge of the team just before the tournament.
