Tillerson's comments come after reports indicated that Trump's July 20 meeting at the Pentagon was a "difficult and tense" session.
Tillerson said Trump's executive orders on immigration, health care and the Iran nuclear deal were examples of his ways to "motivate a change" in policy.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Sunday that President Donald Trump wants him to continue his diplomatic efforts to resolve the growing tensions over North Korea's burgeoning nuclear weapons program.
"I checked, I'm fully intact", Tillerson said.
Tillerson reaffirmed his loyalty to Trump in Sunday's interview.
The secretary also says he's committed to executing the President's objectives, despite Tennessee Sen. "At the end of the day, he makes decisions".
Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker said Trump's comments were the equivalent of castrating the secretary in public. "I'm just not going to be part of this effort to divide this administration". Yet when Trump publicly says the man in charge of representing his administration overseas "is wasting his time" on diplomacy everyone starts to doubt him.
"He has assembled a very, I think, unconventional team", Tillerson continued.
I wish there were more Republicans in Congress who would publicly condemn Trump for his despicable behavior and actions.
"The president speaks for himself", Tillerson said at the time.
The president was also angry with Tillerson's remarks after Trump declared there were "fine people" on both sides of the clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia, between white supremacists and anti-racist demonstrators that left one person dead, according to two people familiar with the Trump's beliefs but not authorized to discuss private conversations. Several top officials, including Tillerson, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis and chief of staff John Kelly are helping "separate our country from chaos", Corker said earlier this month.
