Comedian Kevin Hart led the charge Sunday night, donating $25,000 and challenging his celebrity friends to donate to the Red Cross amid catastrophic flooding in the Lone Star State. In an Instagram video posted Sunday, Hart said he was starting a celebrity challenge to donate money to the cause.

He tagged his famous friends including Beyonce, Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, Chris Rock, Steve Harvey, Justin Timberlake, Dave Chappelle, Jay Z, and Jerry Seinfeld to help him raise funds.

"I think this is a serious matter", he continued.

Hart calls the situation on Texas' Gulf Coast and in Houston, where feet of rain have fallen and caused risky flooding, "a serious matter" where people need help.

"At this point I'm going to start a real challenge", he continues about his Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge. 'I've just been caught up to speed with everything that's going on in Houston with Hurricane Harvey and this shit is unbelievable.

As for Beyonce, who is from Houston originally, she posted a message to Instagram, writing: "Texas, you are in my prayers". Hart proceeded to namedrop a handful of celebrities he wants to step up and donate.

According to reports, Texas and parts of Louisiana have received at least two feet of rain and a reprieve isn't expected until the end of the week at the earliest. "I encourage everyone to do what they can to assist the people of Texas knowing whatever effort you can make to help will go a long way".

And recent MTV VMAs host Katy Perry tweeted a link to the Red Cross' donation efforts to more than 100 million followers on Twitter.

"I am praying for the safety of all those affected".
