KXIP vs KKR Live Score

DEFENDING champion, Australia's Will Power, has crashed out on the opening lap of the Toronto IndyCar race, after hitting Kiwi Scott Dixon's vehicle.

All four Penske drivers - Josef Newgarden and Will Power are the others - were in the top five in one or both practice sessions.

The Verizon IndyCar Series championship has been decided in the final race of the season every year since 2006.

He quit after the lap. No active driver has won at Toronto more than Power, who has a trio of victories and five podiums in 12 starts. Then (Will) Power and I got together and ended up cutting down our tire and doing some damage to the suspension on the auto. "It surprised me. I should have known better than to take any sort of risk on the first lap".

As for Rossi, the California native who won the 2016 Indianapolis 500, he made a very strong charge to get to sixth then pitted after being unable to get past Hinchcliffe. He takes an eight-point lead over Helio Castroneves into the 85-lap event on the streets of Exhibition Place. The second caution flag of the race came out on lap 23 when Tony Kanaan got into the turn 1 tire barrier.

Marco Andretti was fourth, followed by pole-sitter Pagenaud, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Max Chilton, Castroneves, Rahal and series leader Dixon. JR Hildebrand's runner-up finish at Iowa was overshadowed by Helio Castroneves' drought-busting win, but the performance was almost as critical for Hildebrand, who is trying to build confidence and momentum after a tough first half of the season. Former Ed Carpenter Racing drivers Josef Newgarden and Mike Conway won two of the past three races at Toronto, while teammate Luca Filippi was runner-up to Newgarden in 2015.

Rossi seemed more than pleased with his second-place finish in his Honda. We can move up a couple more spots in this tough Championship.

"It's insane to think for so many years I was the kid with a card and a Sharpie chasing drivers around the paddock", he said.

Newgarden actually got two lucky breaks.

Pagenaud said that the Toronto track's difficulty makes it the most important place to qualify well. "We'll have to see what we can do", said Daly, mindful that weather could wreak havoc. "Luckily we're going out".

"It's a track that Scott Dixon excels at", Tracy said. He began covering races in 1965 for Racing Wheels newspaper in Vancouver, WA as a reporter/photographer and his first credentialed race was Jim Clark's historic Indy win.Paul has also done reporting, columns and photography for Midwest Racing News since the mid-sixties, with the 1967 Hoosier 100 being his first big race to report for them.He is a retired middle-grade teacher, an avid collector of vintage racing memorabilia, and a tour guide at Miller Park.

"We have no problem racing in the rain, if anything I think it might make the racing better".

While Castroneves and Pagenaud are closer to Dixon, Power may very well be the biggest threat.

"Coming off the best start and best finish a year ago we wanted to build on that", he said.

Sellers and McCarty each claimed his third win of the season at the.4-mile oval.

Newgarden, driving the No. 2 Chevrolet for Team Penske, arrived in Canada 56 points out of the points lead.
