The woman - who recently moved with her family from IL to Georgia - was depressed about the death of her father, neighbors told the station, saying that they prayed about it recently in church, but said there was no indication she would harm herself or others.
The mother is the primary person of interest in the stabbings, but so far, according to Pihera, authorities have no idea why she would stab her own family. Police said the victims were all under twelve years old, and the man was around 30.
Pihera said the caller was speaking Spanish, which initially made it hard for 911 operators to communicate with her.
A spokeswoman said early indications are that a knife was used to attack the five.
The family moved from IL a month ago to a one-story home in Loganville - about 35 miles east of Atlanta - where they reportedly had family. Officers were called to the scene on Emory Lane after a 911 call Thursday morning.

Police said additional detectives are interviewing neighbors about the family. While the children spoke English as a second language, he said, they were fluent.
