Fabinho could be the next name through the door at Old Trafford if reports in Italy are to be believed and the versatile midfielder has given United hope they could land him by revealing his admiration for the club.

"I would first talk to my agent, Monaco too, to decide everything right, but it's a great club".

Nominally a defensive midfielder, but can play at right-back, Fabinho played an instrumental role in Leonardo Jardim's side reaching last season's Champions League semi-finals as well as winning the French championship.

In an interview with Brazilian television channel Esporte Interativo, as quoted by the BBC, Fabinho said he would be interested in working with Jose Mourinho.

Would Fabinho fit in at Man Utd?

Fabinho has described the prospect of joining Manchester United as a "tempting invitation".

Mourinho is looking to strengthen the core of his team at Old Trafford this summer as United prepares to compete for the Premier League title and in the Champions League next season.

The Brazilian worldwide made his name as a right-back but excelled in a holding midfield role last season to help Leonardo Jardin's side clinch the Ligue 1 title ahead of PSG.

Undergoing a medical and agreeing personal terms shouldn't be an issue for the 23-year-old so a deal could be wrapped-up soon and I think Fabinho would prove to be an excellent signing for United.

Alvaro Morata, the Real Madrid striker, is among the reported targets.
