In 2014, a teenager killed himself by inhaling carbon monoxide; and on Monday, the manslaughter trial of his girlfriend began.
"If you emit 3200 ppm of (carbon monoxide) for five or ten minutes you will die within a half hour", she wrote. The couple met in Florida in 2012 but only maintained contact through text messages and phone calls.
If convicted on the charge, Carter could face up to 20 years in prison.
Carter was given the choice to have a jury trial, but she waived that right, which gives a judge the ability to decide on her fate.
According to the police reports, which was made after the officials arrested the main suspect, Michelle Carter, who was allegedly being the reason to get his boyfriend killed, and the name of Carter's boyfriend was Conrad Roy III. In the months after Roy's death, she reportedly raised hundreds of dollars for mental health awareness. Conrad Roy moved in with his mother in 2014, after his relationship with his father became strained, she said.
"She. assured him that his family would understand why he did it".

Carter's attorney says Roy had a history of suicidal thoughts and Carter had urged him to seek help. "This was a suicide, a sad and tragic suicide, but not a homicide", he said. "Just do it, babe", Carter wrote.
Prosecutors say Carter sent text messages to Boardman saying, "I could have stopped him but I told him to get back in the auto".
The couple met in Florida in 2012 and lived 35 miles apart in MA, but had only met in person a handful of times and went to different high schools.
The prosecution asked to be allowed to hear from two girls Carter is accused of harassing before Roy killed himself.
