LOS ANGELES (AP) - Ben Affleck says he has recently completed treatment for alcohol addiction. Less than 24 hours - That's how long it took for the longtime lovers to reunite after Ben publicly confessed to a February 2017 rehab stint an alcohol addiction on March 14.
Gardner has also spoken positively about Affleck, saying that the couple remain "great friends", and stating, "We're doing really well". In a lengthy 2012 cover story in The Hollywood Reporter, the Cambridge native said he'd gone to rehab in 2001.
Affleck separated from wife, actress Jennifer Garner, in 2015, but there has not been a formal divorce.
Taking this step toward his "positive recovery" was something Ben did all on his own. In his Facebook post Tuesday, the Oscar victor referred to Garner as a "co-parent", suggesting that the couple, who have three children, may still be headed for divorce despite recent stories suggesting they're attempting to reconcile. Taking to his official Facebook page, the actor and director revealed he is taking the steps to confront it.
In Affleck's statement about his rehab stint, he called Garner his "co-parent", and said he's lucky to have her love.
He also gives a shout out to his "co-parent, Jen [Garner], who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do".
A source tells Entertainment Weekly that Ben's involvement in the project has not changed; he's still working on the script with DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and still plans to star. I want to live my life thoroughly and be the best father possible, " he hopes for the future.
