Look at what just blew in on the East Wind!
Disney has released the first photo of Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins ahead of the return of the magical nanny in a new film. The clothes are a little different (and actually, that red hat / blue coat combo reminds me of Paddington more than it does Poppins), but they're still perfectly prim and proper, in keeping with our memory of her from our childhoods. The outfit resembles the iconic Victorian costume Andrews wore, but there are enough alterations to the color scheme and style of the outfit itself to separate the two.
Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Dick Van Dyke and Julie Walters also star.
The film is produced by Marshall, Emmy victor and Golden Globe nominee John DeLuca ("Chicago") and Oscar and Tony nominee and Emmy and Golden Globe victor Marc Platt ("La La Land"). Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are writing all new songs, and Shaiman is composing an original score. Click the here or the image below to enter! Based on the Mary Poppins stories by P.L. Travers, Mary Poppins Returns comes from a screenplay by Life of Pi scribe David Magee, with Oscar-winning Chicago and Into the Woods director Rob Marshall at the helm.
