Social media users, especially Twitterati, took out time from their busy schedules to laud Kaur for standing up for her beliefs, some to criticise her for misusing her father's martyrdom (which, by the way, wasn't the issue at all), and others talking about how Pakistan indeed was the reason behind the Kargil War. The genesis of the clash was an invite to JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid to address a seminar on "Culture of Protests", which was withdrawn by the college authorities following opposition by ABVP.

A Delhi University student who got rape and death threats after taking on the ABVP said on Monday that women can not be threatened with rape. Kaur has expressed solidarity with students allegedly beaten up by the members of saffron party-linked ABVP.

Naidu accused Leftists of trying to turn universities into "laboratories for separatist experiments". I think it is very scary when people threaten you with violence or rape.

Along with threats, Kaur has also received the support of innumerable people - young and old - for her stand against the ABVP and violence on the campus.

Sehwag had earlier today mocked an earlier video of Kaur's, in which she holds up a placard saying: "Pakistan did not kill my dad, war killed him". Juxtaposing an image of Dawood and Kaur, the caption read, "At least Dawood did not use the crutches of his [policeman] father's name to justify his anti-national stand".

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju tweeted, "Who's polluting this young girl's mind? Everybody has freedom but that does not mean that you raise slogans to weaken the country".

Sehwag, an active social media user, took a swipe at the girl, coming up with his own placard.

Sehwag's tweet was retweeted by actor Randeep Hooda, who later said she was being used as a "political pawn". However, we have received a letter from the DCW.

Hooda, in a reply said, "I agree with you it's is absolutely wrong.have a feeling it's not limited to that in interpretation". Gurmehar had a year ago posted a status on Facebook in which she had been seen holding a placard. Actually, she started a campaign against ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad), alleged to have attacked the students of Ramjas college.
