While Villa did not respond to messages seeking comment, she has appeared on multiple Fox News programs since the Grammy Awards to explain the reasoning behind her decision. Her unveiling of the dress had a dramatic effect at the Awards show that is famous for being frequented by liberal attendees.
Villa shocked the crowd when she peeled off her white coat to reveal a dress with the words "Make America Great Again", and "Trump" bedazzled on the front and back.
"Thank you I hope you enjoy tonight's @grammysawards2017 and keep in mind to forget your problems and focus on your future!"
Villa said she has received backlash and even death threats for wearing the dress, but she said she has been more overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and love she's experienced.
It is interesting to point out, however, that while Soriano may have in fact be an all-out Donald Trump supporter, Villa may not actually be as avid as people might think she is.
If you hadn't heard of Joy Villa before the 2017 Grammys, you certainly have by now.
"[Villa] is one of the people on this planet that really promotes love", Soriano said.
"So go out and celebrate yourself as a victor no matter what, together with those you adore!" the singer added.
This is not the first time Villa has made a statement on the red carpet. She captioned the pic, "Sometimes you just gotta be free to express yourself. thank you to all of my supporters and fellow believers". Life is about living free and loving it.
Andre Soriano of La Mesa designed the dress to represent "love and togetherness" in addition to making a statement, KSWB reported. "Be your attractive selves tonight!"
"There are a lot of people that are in power that really misconstrued what this country stands for", he said.
She described herself as a "Vegan, Fitness, Feminist" on her Twitter account, where reviews of her get-up were mixed. Her Twitter account also boasts she was "Grammy-considered".
