Morgan Schneiderlin has said he is aiming to overtake Manchester United with his new club Everton and that José Mourinho was reluctant to sanction his departure from Old Trafford.
Everton's new signing Morgan Schneiderlin expects manager Ronald Koeman to get the best out of him after admitting he "just wants to play football".
The Toffees face Manchester City at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon. In all, Schneiderlin will cost Everton 23 million euros plus bonuses as the deal can potentially cost Everton up to 27.5 million euros for the player.
The temptation to make the move to Everton was great given the France global had struggled to find a place in Jose Mourinho's plans at Old Trafford, making just three Premier League appearances this season, all from the bench. "I wanted to stay a little while longer to enjoy this great football".
Idrissa Gueye is looking forward to linking up with Morgan Schneiderlin and is keen to make life hard for opponents alongside the Frenchman. "He liked me as a players and he wanted me to stay but he understood that I was frustrated".
"It didn't go according to plan, but I don't want to blame anyone; it taught me many things, but now I want to look ahead, not behind".
'Secondly I wish the very best for the future to all the players and all the staff of Manchester United'. I'm happy because it's what he wants, he wants to play.
"I know his ambition and why he came here (to Everton)".
United and Mourinho's loss is Everton and Koeman's gain as the player and coach reprise their relationship from their time together at St Mary's in the 2014-15 season. "It was important for me to find a club like this and to play good football".
"He made a move and the club got good money for the boy". Their central midfield has looked old, weak, and exhausted this season, and Koeman has not always enjoyed the options available to him. A lot of people don't know what happened - they don't see inside the club and they're thinking, "Oh, he didn't make it" but I know my quality.
