In these days of blockbuster Frankenstein-monsters ― where all it seemingly takes to get a multimillion dollar budget approved is to pitch a rehashed version of previously popular ideas and attaching beloved stars ― it all but seems inevitable you'll soon see a superhero movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt.
In Jennifer Lawrence's upcoming film Passengers, her character Aurora leaves earth and all of her friends and family behind to experience life on a different planet for 120 years.
"When I read it I was told to imagine Jen Lawrence in the lead role", Pratt said at a news conference, "and I was like 'damn, okay!'"
Well, the answer to Jennifer Lawrence's question is no as Marvel Studios owns Guardians of the Galaxy, which is completely separate from the Fox Studios X-Men movies. "I would choose that over doing another X-Men movie, maybe [laughter]", Jennifer Lawrence says. "I wonder if I can do that?" Pratt then joked, "This is a binding legal contract". Guardians 2 is well into the post-production process, so to incorporate Lawrence would require reshoots. Fox is now the holder of the X-Men film franchise, while "The Avengers" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" is under the control of Disney's Marvel Studios.
"This is kind of a huge step for me, sort of like graduating from The Hunger Games and X-Men".
For now, fans of both Lawrence and Pratt will just have to see the amusing duo not in "X-Men" or "Guardians of the Galaxy" but in "Passengers".
Jennifer Lawrence to star in the movie Joy, opposite Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper.
The next installment in the GotG franchise, Vol. 2, hits theaters on May 5, 2017. All I know is that the Oscar victor would definitely be a welcome addition to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise - and Pratt agrees in the video below.
