Fans of the original live-action TV series Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers probably know the morphin' sequence by heart-"It's Morphin' Time!"
As is often the case, Lionsgate is surely on the verge of dropping the first teaser trailer for its bold reboot, with all signs now pointing to the New York Comic-Con panel - pegged for October 8 - presenting the flawless opportunity to do so. Upcoming actors Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, and Ludi Lin will be headlining the reboot film.
Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat.
Stylistically, they look to match up nicely with the armor the rangers wear, but it's hard to judge the design of the Zords overall without seeing a complete image. That may be a good thing if it can connect with those who attend the panel.
Directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), the Power Rangers reboot has a long list of screenwriters which includes John Gatins (Kong: Skull Island), Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Dracula Untold), Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class), and perhaps most surprisingly, Max Landis (Chronicle). The "Go Go" tagline is a nice touch for those old enough to even remember the theme song.
In preparation for the new Power Rangers movie due out next year, Lionsgate and Saban Films have released a slew of new character posters that pose each of the Rangers with their corresponding Zord.
